2011 Ontario Junior Championships-March 26, 2011

We want to congratulate all three Geng Table Tennis Academy athletes who have participated in the Ontario Junior Championships in Mississauga over this past weekend. Christina Lin, Michelle Feng and Jimmy Pintea have all made the journey from Ottawa to Mississauga to compete against the best table tennis players in Ontario. While everyone did great in their age events, Christina Lin came through and emerged as the U-11 Champion. As a result, she has qualified to represent the U-11 Ontario Team at the Canadian Championships in July in Toronto. Jimmy finished 4th in the U-18 category giving him a place in the U-18 Ontario Team as well. Michelle, new to the U-13 category, did very well in playing some close matches with the top seeded girls.

Congratulations and good luck at the Canadian Championships!!!

October 2010

For those interested in participating in a table tennis tournament, the first Quebec Circuit is being held in Laval, Quebec 23-24 of October.

Here are a few details for those who are thinking of attending their first Quebec Circuit. The tournament is held over two days: Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday is divided into two blocks, one starting at 9am and the second one starting at 2.30PM. Each participant can enter both blocks based on their rating. Conventionally, the first stage of the tournament consists of a round robin play which means win or lose you are guaranteed to play at least 3 or 4 matches in each block.

On Sunday you have the age groups categories or a two player team event.

I would strongly recommend to start with the two blocks on Saturday.

You can register for the Quebec Circuit #1 here

I have also added a new section with a calendar of tournaments for this season.

September 6, 2010

We are still sorting out a few details with regards to the new gym on Louisa but we have started to take registrations for the kids' training programs starting in October.

We still don't have any information about the adult programs but we are aiming for an October start as well. We are looking at two nights a week from 7pm to 10pm. We should have more details in the upcoming week. If interested please contact us for more information.

I have added an online photo album.

August 14, 2010

The four weeks of the 2010 Summer Table Tennis Camp have come and gone. All in all there were over 80 participants. We had some young ones (6 years of age) and some older ones (13 years of age) and all the ages in between.

Many of the kids have signed up for the entire 4 weeks of the camp and we really want to congratulate them for their enthusiasm day after day. We can honestly say that we were very pleased with everyone's effort for the entire duration of the camps.

The camp culminated with a final tournament. It was great to see the newly acquired skills put into action leading to some great rallies. The winner was Rosa Sun with a hard fought match over Christina Lin. Congratulations to everyone.
